From a repair shop to a high-tech injection-moulding company

A family-run business focused on innovative plastics technology

  • 1970

    From Franz Jost’s small repair and construction shop for agricultural machinery, the company has since developed into the FRANZ JOST AG.

  • 1975

    Franz Jost started developing garden tools, soon beginning series production of a hay rake with a head made of plastic instead of wood, metal or aluminium.  This modest start was to become the basis for a wide range of garden tools – with a focus on rakes – for a wide range of applications.

    Purchase of the first injection-moulding machine.

  • 1980

    After completing his studies as an engineer, Ernst Jost helped his father expand the company.

    further injection-moulding machines being purchased.

  • 1989

    Company founder Franz Jost dies unexpectedly at the age of just 66.

    Trained as an industrial engineer, his second son Helmut joins his brother in the management team, having gained several years’ product development experience at NMC in Eupen and Stocko in Wuppertal.

  • 1992

    Move to the new building  in the “Morsheck” industrial estate near Büllingen.

    A new warehouse is opened.

    JOST becomes a registered trademark.

    The 3rd generation is now becoming involved in the company’s management: Alexander Jost (BSc in electromechanics + a study course in injection moulding at the FH Schmalkalden) takes over as head of production.

50 years’ experience and our unceasing efforts to further develop our product range have made us fit for overcoming the challenges of the future.
